Throughout the last 6,000 years the solemn duty has fallen upon men of God to confront those in leadership with their sins. To rebuke one who has the authority of life and death in his hand is a solemn thing indeed! The last Old Testament Prophet, John the Baptist, was just such a man. When he reproved Herod Antipas for his adulterous and incestuous act of marrying his brother Philip's wife Herodius, it cost John his freedom and ultimately his life. What a contrast John's life is, however, with that of Herod. John feared God and not men, Herod feared men and not God, and that made all the difference. May God raise up men and women of God in our own generation who love His smile more than the approval of sinful men!
