Around the time that I first went to college the book, Love Story, became very popular. The premise of the book was, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." The fact is, love is being willing to say you're sorry. It is being honest enough to recognize your short comings and willing to ask forgiveness for times that we have hurt those we love. Love is also being willing to forgive.
If we are going to forgive, we need to recognize what forgiveness is. We can forgive someone without ever telling them that we forgave them. As we look at this text today, with the Lord's help we will see three dimensions in forgiveness. I. The Vertical Dimension (v. 21-27) II. The Horizontal Dimension (v. 28-30) III. The Place the Two Dimensions Intersect (v. 31-35)
