Jesus tells his disciples that the magnificent temple and buildings of Jerusalem will be utterly destroyed. Less than 40 years later every detail of Jesus' prediction came true, as is testified by ancient writers such as Josephus, Tacitus, and Eusebius. The reason this happened was that the Jews "did not recognize the time of their visitation," that is, they didn't recognize or submit to Jesus as Messiah. So the temple was raised to the ground and 1,100,000 Jews died in the spring of 70AD. This fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy confirmed him as the true and final Prophet of God, the one whom Moses predicted would come (Deut. 18).
