There is no progress in our spiritual walk without the aid of the Holy Spirit, the promised Helper. Through his gracious ministrations we are made aware of the sovereignty of God over our lives, and our responsibility to heed the warnings and guidance he gives us.
There are things that may come against us, to make us stumble and lose our spiritual footing. Fear, flattery, ignorance, lack of conviction, and unbelief may bring us low. Indeed sometimes we may feel alone, even friendless, but be encouraged to rely on the promise, the promise of a helper.
The nature of our stumbling may often include doctrinal compromise, and pressure to conform, because we do not wish to be unpopular, but, remember, we have the promise of the Holy Spirit, and those who have the Spirit have Him, the Lord Jesus Christ. |
