This psalm closes off book one of the Psalms. It seems to be statement of blessedness for those that take care of the poor. However, the text says to consider the poor. They are taken care of by God even though they have nothing. The psalmist learned that God can take of the poor financially and applied it to himself when he was spiritually poor. He had sinned and his enemies were closing. He begged for mercy from God because he knew he had sinned. The Lord was merciful and helped and protected him though he had nothing to offer God.
