Has Given Us an Understanding – so that We May Know (v. 20b; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Ephesians 2:1-3; 1 John 5:5; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 14): a. Him Who is True (v. 20c; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 1:30) b. That We are In Him who is True (v. 20d; 2:5, 1, 24, 27; 3:17) c. A Commandment the Flows from What we Know (v. 21) • “Little Children” (v. 21a) • Keep from Idols – Any thought that is Contrary to What is Revealed in Scripture Concerning Jesus Christ and the Worship of God (v. 21b; Exodus 20:4-6; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 12:19-21; 2 Timothy 2:26; Jeremiah 10:10)
