The Gospel According to John. John 6:1-15 Our spiritual magnifying glasses are needed to look at a well-known Bible story. This story is so important that it is recorded in all four gospels. One of the main truths of this passage is, "Little is much when God is in it!". John began to to talk about the Church. Andrew, the people-person, finds a little boy and brings him to Jesus. He does this a lot. This boy has his lunch with him: five barley loaves and two fishes. Here is a boy who basically said, "I'll give what I can. It's not much, but you can use it!" The boy was most likely poor because barley was the food of the poor. It was fed to the livestock. Wheat was eaten by those who had more money. The fish were little salted sardines. There are about 15,000 people in this crowd. Do you think he was the only one who had food? Do you think he had the biggest lunch or the best one? He is not the only one with the potential to meet the need of the hour. He is willing to give what he had among that hungry crowd. This little lad teaches us a number of lessons. Lessons from a Little Lad 1. He shows us how much Jesus can do for so many with so little. Little is much when God is in it. 2. He shows us that age is no barrier to Christ. He uses a willing child to perform a spectacular miracle. Never feel you are too old or young to be used of God. God uses little things. A baby moved the heart of Pharaoh's daughter. God used a shepherd's rod in the hand of Moses. In David's hands He used a sling and a stone to defeat the enemies of Israel. He used a little maid to get the attention of General Naaman and direct him to Elijah. Use your time to live for God.
