One of my favorite hymns goes something like, "All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give;I will ever love and trust Him,In His presence daily live." While the hymn deeply expresses the desires of heart that is sold out for Christ, it is also a call for all of us to deeply consider our submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Moses' mother, Jochebed, didn't know this hymn, but she is teaching us by her actions, that when we surrender our cares to the Lord, He has a way of taking care of us! But surrendering doesn't come easy to anyone. Jochebed tried to hide Moses for three months, before she gave up to the Lord. As she let go of the small Ark carrying baby Moses through the reeds of the Nile River, she was letting the Lord take over. And the Lord did not disappoint her. In fact, that act of surrender, led to her, nursing her child, and getting paid for it! How marvelous! May we be encouraged to surrender 'All to Jesus' and find our peace at the feet of the cross!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heartand lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5,6 QUESTIONS 1. What do you think were some of Jochebed's struggles to let go of her son? 2. According to our text/message, how does God show His care for us? 3. Do you believe we need to surrender, ALL TO JESUS? Why?
