Psalm 110 is the most quoted OT passage by the NT writers and shows us how they understood the Messiah and His mission and is strikingly different to how many in the church today think about the Messiah's mission. This Psalm shows the inseparableness of the Messiah's roles as Priest and King. People struggle to hold these two things together when they think about the Messiah: we see this in Jesus' days as well as our own. This Psalm and the New Testament's use of it ought to make us take another look at our own view of who we think the Messiah is and what He's doing now.
