We start a short series on the Servant's Songs. "Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights: I have put My Spirit upon Him. He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles."
Israel had failed and in the Book of Isaiah we get glimpses of what God is going to do through His Servant.God's Servant will bring permanent deliverance. We look briefly at the fact that Jews believe this refers to Israel.
The Father delighted in Jesus and had a particular interest in the Son, His Chosen One. God prepared His servant for the mission He came to carry out.
We also look at the terms bruised reed and smoking flax used to describe hurting people. We see this Servant who can restore the years the locust has eaten. We are further reminded that He never got discouraged and there is hope and comfort for us.
