Two weeks ago, two sad incidents caused the speaker to meditate upon God's mighty power to save His people, compared to our failures to do so with those entrusted to our care.
Both instances involved failure to protect little animals beloved by their owners. In one tragic case, a poor woman with nothing left to love save her pet cats, was forced to stand by powerless while they were taken from her by wicked persons. They had the force of law with them, and they broke into her home and took the ones she loved. We had to tell her that three had been immediately put to death, and another taken across the country and sold, and that she would never see them again.
Each of us have little ones we ought to protect and defend, be they children, younger siblings, aged loved ones, or even pets for which we care.
Yet our weakness betrays us and them over and over again.
But our Lord Jesus is mighty to save His loved ones! We are helpless, lost and without hope, but He saves us to the uttermost!
Our failures ought to highlight for us our God's perfection in defending and protecting us.
We may fail because we are distracted or preoccupied, but God never loses sight of us! We may be overcome by strong enemies, but God's Arm is strong to defeat all our foes!
Our loved ones may be taken away never to be seen again, but nobody can take us away from Jesus, ever!
Like our animals, our foolishness betrays us, but Jesus is watching and praying for us. The devil is strong, but Jesus has destroyed Him by dying for us!
We have His promise He'll never leave us or forsake us. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. He is able to keep us unto that day, praise God!
