All forms of 'one anothering' tend to come to a screeching halt when we're dealing with other believers who annoy us to death. We find it difficult, if not nearly impossible, to truly prefer them, serve them, and build them up.
This message examines how we love one another in Christ when we can barely stand one another.
The Gospel reminds us that God has patiently, faithfully put up with us in spite of our sin. He is slow to anger and eager to forgive. In coming to this earth to live and die for the forgiveness of our sins, Jesus bore our liabilities in his own body so that we might live in him unencumbered.
We must walk worthy of the calling of Christ, learning how to bear with unbearable people and learning how to accept other believers' liabilities along with their assets. In Christ, those believers who aggravate us are our brothers and sisters. We would do well to adopt the mindset, 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother!' |
