We can settle into a false sense of peace even when we are not right with God. When God brings us to a crossroad over a particular issue and says follow me, we follow God except on that one issue, then continue on in our false peace. "We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us" -Jeremiah 8:8
It's His kindness, grace & mercy that brings us to repentance. Amazing that He would want to love us like that. Paul just couln't get over the fact that Jesus could love him like that. The worth of this relationship surpasses everything else.
"I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, ... count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ"
