Does God require the tithe in the New Testament era? There is no subject more dividing in the Christian church over the ages. The Church Fathers were split on this. W Pink , John Calvin, RC Sproul, and RJ Rushdoony generally backed the tithing law. But then, Martin Luther, Charles Spurgeon, John Piper, John Owen, John Gill, B.B. Warfield, John Bunyan, Francis Turretin, and John Robinson basically rejected the mandate. How in the world does one handle this divisive issue? How does a church shepherd on the matter?
Given that the American church gives just 2.5%, shall we just go ahead and enforce the tithe as the Mormon church does it? Or, could there be a better way, for the First Church of Sarah?
