At several points in 1 Thessalonians, Paul reminds the saints what he taught them while he was with them. During his admonition to love the brethren, he says there is no need to write them for they had been taught by God to love one another. This is the promise of the New Covenant. However, while the New Covenant has been inaugurated, it will not be fully consummated until Christ returns. In the present, God is writing His law on our hearts as the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to the Truth. God teaches us through the Scriptures and those commissioned to preach and teach His Word. We look forward to the day when we will be in the presence of His unveiled glory and the promise of Jeremiah 31:31-34 will reach maturity.
