In the terrible siege of Jerusalem, that was starting to happen when John had this vision, the whole city would be destroyed: 1.1 million Jews would perish, 97,000 were enslaved. But Jesus told His followers to flee when they saw Jerusalem surrounded and they did. Rev. 7:1-8 seems to speak of this time, but whether it does or not, it shows the Lord preserving His church—keeping just the right number of them alive to sustain His church. It is a beautiful picture of His preservation of His church.
