Gentile converts to Christianity were once apart from the family of God and without hope in this world. God's family extends back to the OT prophets and patriarchs. But now the nations find themselves included in God's family through faith in Jesus Christ. This is cause for great humility and thankfulness, not pride and arrogance: You Gentiles stand not by your own merit, but by faith in Christ's merits and His righteousness. Therefore continue in this faith, and mind both God's kindness to you who believe and God's severity to those who do not believe. Also keep in mind that God is perfectly able to restore those who have dropped out of His family because of unbelief, such as Israel according to the flesh.
