There are two aspects of goodwill that play vital roles in the working of God's Kingdom. The first has to do with our perception of goodwill in others and the second has to do with what it means to have hearts of goodwill as we labor in the Kingdom. Firstly, only way a body and a family can function properly is if there is trust and confidence in the goodwill of those you are living and working with. If this aspect vanishes then everything is interpreted through the glasses of mistrust. Mistrust immobilizes Kingdom work because Kingdom work cannot be accomplished by any one individual—God has ordained His work to be accomplished by teams working together. Secondly, goodwill means that you have a real genuine concern and regard for the interests and wellbeing of the other person. Having to have goodwill gets down into the depths of our being. Godliness is not just godly outward appearances, it touches the very intent and content of the heart. God will not allow us the self-indulgent luxury of perfecting our actions and our speech while leaving our hearts in grade K1. The issues of life flow from the heart (Prov.4:23).
