In our study of Joshua we have reached the first battle. Joshua has been led by the Lord up to this point. He was taken to the river Jordan while it was at flood tide. When the Ark of the Lord entered the water, the waters were cut off and the children of Israel passed through. God then instructed them to circumcise their men. This was a sign of their separation from the world. They were the Lord's and carried this sign with them to remind them that they were a different people. After they were healed they kept the Passover. This was another reminder of who's they were and who they should fear. They were to remember the judgment of God that they had escaped by the blood. It wasn't their righteousness, or their offering, but a sacrifice that stood between them and God. God was willing to allow his judgment to be on this sacrifice and to pass over them. At this point Joshua meets a man outside the camp. This man in opposed to Joshua, with his sword drawn. When Joshua asks if He is for or against the children of Israel, we find that he is talking with the captain of the Lord's host and is told to worship. This captain is the Lord Jesus in pre-incarnate form as He accepts the worship of Joshua. Join us as we look at the commands that Christ will now give.
