Christian Liberty is a special Christian inheritance
*Acts 10 makes it clear that our relationship to the Ceremonial Law is different the the Saints of the OT *We are now able to eat and drink, and do whatever we do to the glory of God. *Christian Liberty is not a license to sin.
Why Study Christian Liberty?
*I believe it is very important. We will primarily be looking at 1 Cor 8-10 and Rom 14-15 which are very practical and “Pastoral” in nature.
Problems With Today's Christian Liberty
*Biblical principles must be our foundation rather than comparing ourselves to other believers or churches in our culture. *What can a Christian wear? What movies can I watch? Where exactly am I allowed to go? What music can I listen to?
1 Cor 8-10 Overview
*Believers need to consider the impact that their choice might have.
Guiding Principles
*Don't put stumbling blocks or hindrances in the way fellow believers *Walk in Love
Jerusalem Council Acts 15
*Refrain from meat offered to idols, Blood, Things Strangled, Fornication
The Dangers of Knowledge
*Paul is basically saying that if we think we understand something completely, then we probably do not!
Love and Knowledge
*Cor 8:3 is saying that if we forget about the pursuit of knowledge and our desire to love God first and foremost in our life, then God will know us.
Application
*Our goal this should be to glorify God, edify fellow believers, and have a good reputation before unbelievers
