Once again it is our great privilege as the people of God to come to the Lord's Supper. This is our Lord's designated time to remember His death, and to reflect upon its great significance in our lives. It also anticipates the future marriage supper of the Lamb when the entire company of the redeemed will feast together in the presence of our Savior. I am going to begin a new sermon series on The Servant of the Lord. We will be working from the “Servant Songs” that are found in the book of Isaiah. In the sermon today I want to simply introduce the Servant of the Lord. Since the contextual background is important we will take time to develop it before moving into the servant songs themselves. The Servant is introduced in relation to this context, and His mission is shaped by the events taking place. This gives us a unique perspective on the person and work of Jesus Christ, who is the true Servant. May the Lord grant us even greater insight into our Savior, and may we come to the Lord's Supper in a profitable and edifying manner.
