Circumstances often have a powerful bearing on our perspective. Habakkuk starts the book by calling out to God, desperately searching for Him. He also is struggling w/the thought of the wicked appearing to prosper. - Habakkuk doesn't understand what's going on but he still trusts God. - God's always working even when we can't see it. - Habakkuk also learns that evil will eventually fail. - Habakkuk learns God has given us everything we need to have joy in our lives. How does Habakkuk have Overcoming Faith Regardless of Circumstances? I. Habakkuk Recognizes God's Greatness. A. Before we can trust God, we have to recognize how great He is. B. God is also good. C. We recognize God's greatness by: 1.) Looking to the past, remember the great works God did before. This will give us confidence for what He will do in the future. 2.) Looking at the present, Habakkuk calls God to work today as He did in the past while Israel was being overrun by enemies. - Habakkuk calls out to God after learning that complaining does nothing. - When we plead for mercy, that's when we find strength. II. Rejoice in God's Goodness A. Joy is Always a Choice. B. Joy has Nothing to do with Circumstances. - God is always great and always good and He always knows what He's doing in our lives.
