We live in extremely troubling and worrisome times, dangers on every side and the line between friend and foe has be muted to a nearly meaningless distinction. Yet, the apostles living during the time of the writing of the New Testament, for different reasons, faced very similar circumstances. All of the apostles except for John died by Roman execution, and yet we read throughout their writings of God's protective hand being upon them. Our message this morning will be on that very thing, understanding that God will watch over His little children, and when our life comes to an end, we shall in that moment see that our 'brief affliction' is truly just for the merest of moments.
"Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city. And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them." Acts 18:9-11 (KJB)
The same God that prepares us to minister in His harvest fields is the same God who will bring us safely home. Just as God gives grace to serve, He also gives us grace to die. All we need do is fully commit our way unto Him and He shall establish us both here, and in the hereafter.
