In modern American evangelicalism the cry is always "Find new paths for your feet!" The thirst for novelty, new doctrines, new worship practices, and the like seems insatiable. Yet in Jeremiah's prophecy we hear this call to recover the old paths in which the good way dwells. It is the old Scripture, the old Gospel, and the old worship established by Christ and His Apostles that we need! They have lost none of their relevance nor none of their power. We need simply to recover them, preach and practice them in the power of the Holy Spirit. For at the end of the day what makes the old paths so wonderful is that they all lead to the crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ!
