Psalms 103:10-12 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. KJV
Forgive as Christ forgave you. It is a high calling. It takes away all of our excuses. Our but….but….but…..
If someone beat your son nearly to death, spit on him, and hung him on a cross to die, how would you deal with that? How does the Lord want us to deal with that?
Generally when we are wronged we want three things:
Vengeance, Vindication, and Validation.
The desire for vengeance is usually the first human response to being wronged. This is one where there is no leeway or argument. The Lord says we do not get it.
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. Therefore, "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:17-21 NKJV
How God deals with others is His business. He will repay according to His will. He will discipline His children out of love. |
