Family Worship Guide Memory Verse: Philippians 4:11
Day 1: Read Gen 45:5, Gen 50:20, Rom 8:28, and discuss: How did Joseph's testimony show his confidence in the providence of God? What things about his life and how he was wronged would be difficult for you to respond the same way as he did? Why is it important to know that you have been called and are actively loving the Lord when hard times come (Rom 8:28)? How can this give you confidence that God is at work?
Day 2: Phil 4:10-12, and discuss: What was so different about how Paul expressed contentment versus how the world would express contentment? Why is contentment something that must be learned? Why is it a fallacy to define contentment by being happy? What about contentment being defined as the absence of trials?
Day 3: Jam 1:2, 2 Cor 9:8, Pro 30:7-9, and discuss: Why do we need to be intentional in how we value or reckon trials? How is contentment and sufficiency related? How does prosperity cause us to be discontent? Why did the man in Proverbs ask not to be given too much or too little?
