In this chapter we wee a great work of God in otherwise discouraging times. 1. When God works. This was a day of departure from God, a day of sin. Yet God is not absent. He is still in charge. This is when God works, showing his soveriegn power and perfect plan. 2. Where God works. The tribe of Dan was the most insignificant tribe in Israel. Yet here God fulfills the prophecy of Jacob in Genesis 49 verse 16. But there is a geater problem, the infertility of Manoah and his wife. This is where God has chosen to demonstrate his power. 3. The conditions God imposes. The importance of purity of life and of being dedicated to him. 4. The fear God arouses. None can see God and live. Yet here God shows himself in a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ. We can only see God through Christ. 5. The blessing God gives. The birth of children is a blessing. God preserves Samson from infancy. God moved Samson to fulfill his calling. Application of this passage to our own lives.
