Hannah and Elkanah are taking their young son Samuel to Shiloh to leave him at the tabernacle of the Lord in the care of Eli the priest. These were not good days in Israel. Moral laxity abounded on every hand, even in the priestly family of Eli. Hannah had to wonder how her son could turn out to be godly in the midst of such circumstances. Christian parents today are faced with similar circumstances. Hannah can help us with rearing godly children in a godless age. She teaches us that: 1-Christian parents must desire their children to be godly. 2-Christian parents must demonstrate a life of godliness to their children. 3-Christian parents must depend upon the sufficiency of God for this great task. --God is greater than the evil in this world. --God will some day bring an end to the evil in this world.
