The prophet Isaiah lived and ministered during some very dark times in Israel's history. Idolatry was rampant. Justice was perverted. Religion and morality were an outward show devoid of any inner reality. Oppression and violence were commonplace. The Assyrian army had run roughshod over the Ten Northern Tribes and was returning to lay siege to Jerusalem itself. God's people were a disgrace.
But Isaiah says, "Hold on! A day is coming when everything's about to change! The people who lived in darkness have seen a great light!"
Listen and discover what was Israel's hope and consolation. What kind of day was coming? How was this possible? And why do we [still] hope for the coming of this day?
