For most of us, we have grown up (or at least spent significant time) in the "Bible Belt." At least until recently, Christian morals have been the norm for us. For that reason, it is at times difficult to imagine what it would be like to be one of the converts at Ephesus, who had grown up amongst the utter immorality of heathenism. Among the heathen nations, stealing was part of life - there was very little regard for private property, and therefore work wasn't always seen as a necessary part of life. For this reason, Paul calls them to repent of stealing, and begin to work hard for one very important reason: so that they can give generously to others. As we study this passage, we'll find that it actually has just as much to teach us as it did the Ephesians. Listen as Alex Mark expounds, "Theft, Work, and the Glory of God."
