We have a great need-we need a champion. Sin can be forgiven through Jesus. Advocate v1. John is pastoral here in 1 John, using the phrase "My little children". He is showing us who our Advocate is, Jesus. Jesus stands before the Father. Jesus Christ the righteousness. Payment V2 Atonement the payment for sin to God. It is to make peace. John tells us Jesus is the propitiation. Sin makes us separate from God. We have offended an infinitely perfect God. There is no universal atonement. Jesus died for the ones given to Him by the Father. We need payment, we are not innocent
