"Christ." It's a word Christians use almost more than any other. But how many even know what it means? How many know of its connection to the Jewish hope of a coming Messiah who would restore their nation and establish justice and peace by bringing final judgment upon all wickedness (especially in others!)?
This message explores the Old Testament development of the term "Messiah" right up through the period between the testaments and the birth of Jesus. We'll also explore how the New Testament writers used this term and applied it exclusively to Jesus. We'll see why Jesus was hesitant to use this title to refer to himself (even though he was, unmistakably, the one true Messiah).
Finally, we'll discuss what the Messiah means for our lives, as 21st century people. We'll see what our own expectation is as we await the return of Jesus the Messiah.
