Once Satan and the demons were cast from heaven like lightning, can you guess where he would show up next? He came slithering along in the Garden of Eden transforming himself as an angel of light with greater wisdom than God and His word. He tempted the first man Adam to rebel against God along with him. Adam disobeyed God and the original sin would come with grave consequences. Death, sorrow, crying, and pain were introduced into the garden and began to wreak havoc on everything. Man who had walked with God heard God's voice and started hiding from God in guilt and shame. Adam and Eve made fig leaves and hid behind trees. God saw right through it and called out to man. When lovingly confronted by God, man started blaming God and each other for their sin. This is the Fall as God's judgment fell upon the earth and man. The glory of God was still shining. The whole earth is still filled with the glory of God. The heavens declared the glory of God and the sky above proclaims his handiwork (Psalm 19:1). However as a result of the original sin, future generations of humanity would be born in sin and live sin. It would extend to us as the Apostle Paul stated, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Mankind would be born sinners and sufferers, need a Savior or Redeemer, and given the opportunity to be called saints (holy ones, set apart ones). We will explore this in the message today entitled, "The Story of the Fall." |
