The dream of every Jewish young woman was that one day she would be chosen by God to be the mother of the promised Messiah. So why did God choose Mary to be the human mother of His Son? One reason is that she was in the right place at the right time. The prophets predicted that the Messiah would come from the region of Galilee and from the town of Nazareth. Secondly, she was a chaste woman, a virgin, a clean vessel that was fit for the Master's use. She herself had been a recipient of God's grace, recognizing her need of a Savior. She lived in fellowship and partnership with the Lord. As a result she was blessed among women. Not above women, but among them. Blessed because she pondered the meaning of the angelic message and came to the right conclusion. Blessed because she believed that God could do the impossible. Blessed because she willfully submitted herself to doing God's will. Like Mary, we too can be God's servants to do His will and work in this world. For we too are in the 'right place' at the 'right time!'. May we, as God's servants, be clean vessels, fit for the Master's use and prepared unto all good works!
