How can you determine what is important to someone? There are a number of ways to determine this: how they spend their money; how they spend their time; what they talk about; what they prepare or plan for. The list could be very long. But what about adding to the list what a person prays for? Or, as the case may be, what they neglect to pray for. What we pray for is a good indication of what is important to us and it certainly was for the Apostle Paul. Already in the book of Philippians, he has expressed prayerful desires for God's people and he will continue to do so. In these verses, he prays for three things in particular. Do these three things sound like what you pray for? Or do your prayers sound more like a personal wish-list for your own self-benefit? The inspired apostle, as an example of a mature Christian, shows us what ought to be important, and what we should pray for.
