Life is filled with uncertainties and situations beyond our control. The psalmist was facing enemies who threatened his life, or life, as he knew it.
As he meditates on God's Word and seeking God's solace through prayer, he expresses great confidence in God as he battles fear of the future. In previous sections, he acknowledges God care (vs. 65-73). In this section (kaph), his mind goes from fear to faith and back again (see vs. 89, 97, 105).
"This octave is the midnight of this psalm, and very black it is... The strain will after this become more cheerful..." Spurgeon |
