King Ahaz had a problem, it looked like all of his enemies had ganged up on him and this time they would be successful against him. How could he possibly win against three powerful armies, and among them were some of his own people (Israelites). Distant family had turned on him, his enemies were tired of playing games with him, and they brought even more people to the fight. God however had a plan and he wanted it laid out not in the palace but by the fuller's field. This fuller wasn't adding to clothes rather he was over there to clean them up. By going there God could show this faithless king what He could do for him by looking at what a fuller does to clothing.
