Jesus has just entered the ministry. After His baptism by John He went to the wedding at Cana, and then He went to His first Passover in Jerusalem. He has just returned to the Galilee area. He has called several disciples and has made one brief preaching tour in the Galilee area. Because He had done some healing and helped some demonized people, great multitudes began to follow Him. In the preaching and teaching of Jesus, they were seeing something so different from the religiosity of the Scribes and Pharisees, and it seems to me they recognized that here was a Man that spoke the truth, that many began to follow Him and listen to Him.
