The basic building block of society is the family. The family is under attack and if it fails society will collapse. The New Testament reveals that the leadership of the Holy Spirit is the hope for the family. In Ephesians the Apostle Paul unpacks one of the Bible's most important commands in 5:18 - "be filled with (controlled by) the Holy Spirit." He then identifies three evidences of the Spirit-filled life, including the need to walk in submission in God-ordained relationships and circumstances. He follows with three practical examples of where Christians must exercise Spirit-powered submission, and two of the three are in the family. In 6:1-4, the New Testament teaches that the Holy Spirit is the ultimate family resource and counselor, as He: i.) leads children to submit (vv.1-3) and parents to train (v.4).
