Jesus states that He is the Good Shepherd and the Good Shepherd lays down His life and knows His sheep. Twice He states He is the Good Shepherd and both times the statement is followed by a verb of action. Through this, we learn our Shepherd is no passive shepherd. Rather, He is powerful, purposeful, intentional, and relational. In this we are challenged to reconsider what it means for Jesus to be our Shepherd and what it looks like to live in this reality.
