As we have gone through the book of Daniel, we have seen Daniel's response to sin and the effects of sin. He mourns and then he is comforted. I want us to consider the relationship between mourning and prayer. As we consider the great men of God, Moses, David, Ezra, Nehemiah, Paul and others, we see them truly mourning over sin. Daniel didn't eat any pleasant food and he mourned over the sin of Israel for three week, before the angel came and comforted him. When we consider our own sin. When we consider the sin in the church. When we consider the sin in our nation, do we consider it the way that God considers it? Do we see it as worthy of true mourning? We should not have an expectation that God is going to remove abortion from our land unless we truly are mourning over the massive slaughter that is taking place around us. We should not expect the gospel to shine forth broadly in a land that embraces sodomy, which means that we are in a country that does not want to retain God in its knowledge, unless we first truly mourn over that sin. We see that repeatedly in the life of Daniel, do we see it in our own lives?
