I. From Creation to New Creation
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Co 4:6)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. (2 Co 5:17)
II. From Old Covenant to New Covenant
And on the seventh day God finished His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all His work that He had done in creation. (Ge 2:1–3 w/ 2:15-17)
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work,…For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day.” (Ex. 20:8-11)
“Come to Me, all who labor [work] and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28; cf. Ge. 5:29).
III. From Old Testament Example to New Testament Example (Lk. 24:1, 27, 30, 36, 44; Jn. 20:19, 22; Acts 2; 1 Co. 16:2; etc.)
IV. From the Sabbath Day to the Lord’s Day
“God raised Him from the dead, and for many days He appeared to those who had come up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now His witnesses to the people. And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this He has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.’” (Acts 13:30-33) |
