At the Incarnation God came in the flesh. The two natures of Jesus Christ meant that He was fully God and fully man. This was needed for Him to perform the work of salvation, in saving people from their sins. Only God, in Christ, could change the status of sinners. The work needed a man, and that man had to die to pay the price of sin, as God cannot die. That man had to have lived a life of perfect righteousness; was there such a man? Indeed there was, therefore only His death could satisfy the wrath of a holy God, so that the righteousness of this God-man could cover the lives of sinners, in order that God Himself would regard them also, as righteous.
Thus through the Person and the Work of the Lord Jesus Christ we can have the assurance of knowing that our sins are truly forgiven, beyond a shadow of doubt, as the right Person has done the Work to make it so.
