The majority of the world today is not in the right spirit and does not want to come under the authority of God, the Word, or the church. The world and many around us are self-centered, self-focused, and self-glorifying. If we do not actively mortify our flesh, we can be the same way. However, we need to be like the Psalmist David stated in Psalms 138:1-2, “I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” The man after God’s own heart exalted God among the gods of this world and he upheld the authority of God’s revelation in His Word. This has been the aim of the Apostle Paul. Let us reverence the Lord today as we honor Him in our hearts and hear His word. Let’s turn to Galatians 5:22-26 and discuss Living in the Spirit. Do you realize that the Christian can live in the Spirit of the Lord all year through? Everyday can be a joy and blessing. This is not a second blessing or a higher tier Christian. This is for all children of God who are in intimate union with Him. Every day can be seen as a gift. Everything we receive from the Lord is an opportunity to give back what He was responsible for giving. Today, we will look at the Fruit of the Spirit (22-23), the Flesh’s Crucifixion (24), and the Fellowship of God’s Children (25-26). We are called to enjoy living in the Holy Spirit all year through.
