Following the death of Stephen the early church begins to move out from Jerusalem and providentially be scattered into Samaria. Philip's ministry in Samaria focuses on the receptivity of the "despised" Samaritans, as well as a high government official from Ethiopia, to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is here, in Acts chapter 8, that through the Gospel the walls of animosity that had been built up over a thousand years would be broken down through the Gospel. A new unity was being established through Jesus Christ. God's sovereignty is also clearly seen in the "Divine Appointments" that he provides throughout, most notably in Philip's encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch. God continues to set up "Divine Appointments" for his children. One challenge in this message is to make sure we are not missing the appointments God has set up for us.
