After giving thanks to God for the Colossians' faith, love, hope, knowledge and fruit, Paul now prays for them to abound even more in the same. We should be like Paul in this, not at all being frugal in our petitions for the brethren to be graced with spiritual growth and blessings.
Paul's petition is that they be filled with the knowledge of God's will.
Paul's purpose is that they would then walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing God.
And the products of such a God-pleasing life are prayed to be fruit-bearing, continued increase in the knowledge of God, the power of God showing forth in patience and longsuffering, and a joyful thanksgiving to the Father for redemption through Christ.
May we pray this for one another, to the glory of God.
