Our passage takes us to the church in the city of Antioch, where Saul and Barnabas returned after they delivered an offering from the Gentile church at Antioch to the church at Jerusalem, to help them through a time of famine God announced to them. This is a turning point in the book of Acts. Last we saw Peter, he was on the lam from the goons of Herod Agrippa I, who wanted to re-arrest him after God sent an angel to get him out or prison. We're only going to see him once more in Acts.
The new primary character in this book is the Apostle Paul. The passage we begin today tells us how the church at Antioch launched Saul and Barnabas. It is rife with appli- cations we at Heritage Bible Church and every other church in the world should make concerning how we minister. A "swarm of be's" will help us learn from what happened there, so that God will use us for His glory.
