Looking at vs.9 again to get context: This is at the end of the tribulation period, there's a New Holy Jerusalem, and everything's purified and polished by fire. Vs9,10: This Jerusalem that comes out of heaven is after tribulation. The city is so pretty it looks like a giant diamond hanging in the sky. Scholars believe it will hover in the sky, it won't touch down. If you're a child of God, this will be your new home. Whatever you live in today is insignificant. Vs12-14: a high wall, 12 gates, 12 angels, 12 tribes of the children of Israel. Each of these 12 gates has the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. There are 3 gates at each 4 points of the compass – north, south, east, and west. This great city is comprised all of Jewish people. Who's going to be the 12 apostle to replace Judas, we think it might be Paul, not Mathias. No other nation on earth has been through what God's people, the Nation of Israel, has been through. They are God's chosen ancient people. To get into the city, you must go through one of the 12 gates of the Jewish tribes. Vs15-16: the city is built in a square, size 1300-1500 miles on each side. If you lay that on the US, it would be from the Atlantic ocean to a bit past the Mississippi river, and from Canada down past the tip of Florida. So this city will cover half of the United States. The height of the city is the same as the breadth and width. All of God's people will definitely fit comfortably in this new city. Listen to more
