In the climax of this sermon of Stephen’s, we see his final attempt to convince these wicked religious men of their need of Christ. He speaks to them about David and Solomon and the building of the temple. The main point of this last part of his sermon; the peroration if you will, would be this: The Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, but He does dwell with those who have faith in Christ. How does he go about to make this point? He shows them 1st of all – The importance of the pattern of God’s dwelling with them. 2nd – The importance of having the desire for God to dwell with them. And 3rd – The importance of their receiving the fulfillment of God dwelling with them. As I preach to you this sermon, I pray that you will see your own need for Christ to richly dwell in your heart by faith.
