Isn't it the common things, the ordinary things, and the seemingly easy things that seem to be the most difficult to grasp and seem nearly impossible to execute? Take the word "love", for example. If one were to survey 100 random people on the street regarding what that word means, you would likely receive nearly 100 different answers. Yet, nearly everyone would say they have experienced it. It is the same with word forgiveness. Only the most hard-hearted fiend has never sought forgiveness and only the hermit has never desired it. Yet, what forgiveness is, and the perplexing who should and shouldn't receive it, what should and shouldn't be forgiven, and how should I forgive questions don't seem to have a fixed definition or answers, nor is there a universally held "right way to do it." It seems like it shouldn't be this hard and yet it is. This is not merely hypothetical; it is imminently practical. Each and every one of us needs forgiveness both from our neighbor and especially from God. Likewise, each one has the obligation to love and forgive their neighbor and love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. A necessary part of that love is to seek God's forgiveness and to have the relationship restored. To do so is to acknowledge the truth of who we are – sinners in need of forgiveness. – Pastor Schlegel
